It's that time of the year when we will start to use more energy / fuel. The great thing about the smart meter is that you can track your spend.

How do you guys all keep on top of increased usage. How do you bring down that usage? Any hints or tips?

There's also a great topic for standard meter prepayment customers and their high costs. Check this out here: https://forum.boostpower.co.uk/traditional-payg-4/why-have-my-costs-increased-71

That's a steep increase, @Mel 😯

As it's PAYG+ have a look at the breakdown of these charge - is it gas, electricity, standing charges? The answer might be there. For example if you have gas powered heating, and you've only started putting the heating on in the last month, and the increase in charges are mainly from gas usage, that would make sense.

These might be handy:

Hi, I hope someone can help, I'm PAYG OVO and I've always averaged a daily consumption of £2.00 per day. Our boiler recently broke down and we were without heat for 6 days. During that time we used electric heaters which increased our electricity consumption to £5.00 per day. Our heating is now fixed and the electric heaters have been switched off yet the consumption remains at £5.00 per day! Is there any way to re-set the meter so I can return to £2.00 a day? Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Well done Tim, you managed to provide utterly worthless help. Good job on the scripted *edited by moderator that doesn’t address Mels specific problem.

@Dallas

Not entirely sure your answer is any better?!

Firstly Mel had not given a great amount of detail, apart from her fuel cost increasing.

The cost will only have gone up if that fuel has been used so Tim is giving advise on how to find what's causing it, and then how to reduce this. It's not some hidden charge so scripted or not it's still good advise.

If Mel thinks this is a fault she should call and get it raised.

Hoping @Aadil & @Tim_Boost have helped you troubleshoot your higher than expectedly fuel costs?!

If you do feel there may be a fault as mentioned above it would be best to reach out to the Boost Customer Care Team to raise It.
My consumption has also increased since last year. Looking at the cost on my app for November 2016 and this November it's a £12.00 increase. I have my gas and electricity supplied by ovo/boost and the app bundles the cost together, so I have no idea if I am using more electricity or more gas. My costs seem to have increased since the change over. I'm thinking of changing suppliers.

The app will show you the breakdown if you click on that month and the little arrow that points down. It'll expand down with the breakdown.

Hope this helps
